I hope you're all doing well on this wet and miserable weekend. Sorry for the long message, but I wanted to to reach out to this community for some advice and suggestions. I'm a primary teacher originally from rural Ireland who had to move to Dublin due to the lack of job opportunities back home. Rent in Dublin is eating up a significant portion of my income, leaving me with very little to spare. Despite working full-time, I find myself struggling to make ends meet. I am also spending a good bit on petrol, because I can't afford to live near my school in south Dublin. Instead, I'm residing in the outskirts, which means I have to drive to get to work.
Unfortunately, I was treading water. But now, my car has completely broken down, and it will cost more to fix than it's worth. So I have to get a loan to get a newer car, but I can’t afford to make the repayments. I don't have any savings or disposable income, as I'm just trying to gain work experience to eventually move home. I've tried taking on in the past for additional income, but the unpredictability of the M50 traffic makes it too unreliable to depend on for scheduling. (And no, Dubai isn’t an option… too many family members who aren’t in great health to risk it, and I’d feel too guilty.)
So I’m looking for ideas. Are there any weekend or after-school jobs that I could take on to supplement my income? Any help is appreciated!
