WR250F or 300L?
Post Body

I want my bike to be more off road oriented, but be able to do 60mph without screaming. Im talking about country roads and non interstate highways where the speed limit is 55. I have an ‘03 wr250f and I love love love it, and while it’s got no problems doing 60 and above, i feel she is screaming at me above 45mph. I don’t want to change the sprockets because I want that low first gear. This is really the only gripe I have. I’m finally ready to buy a new(er) bike and had already decided on another wr250f, specifically a 2019 because they added a 6 speed trans. When I was talking about it with a riding buddy, he told me to look at the 300L rally. He has one and loves it. I wish I could test ride it for a week, but we don’t live close. When I looked at the specs and saw the weight, my jaw dropped. 330lbs. My wr is literally 100 lbs lighter and the kind of riding I do (mostly off-road) I just don’t know that I want a bike 100 mother loving pounds heavier than what I have now. Does anyone here have experience with both of these bikes and can give me their opinions? Are these bikes even comparable? My friend said his bike is great both on road and off, but I ride a little more aggressively than he does and I’m trying to picture myself doing a hill climb, or flying thru whoops, or anything technical carrying 100 more pounds. With that said, is the power between the bikes comparable? I’ve read that the suspension is shit on the 300L but that’s not a factor in my decision because whichever bike I buy will have suspension work done first thing (I’m tall and had the suspension done on my current wr). Can anyone weigh in?
