Thatās my new goal for 2024.
Iāve been considering how to move forward, and I have made a couple of realisations:
Iām happy I made it dry through all of January. It worked to keep me accountable and off weekday drinking, but I found it annoying not to be able to have a drink with a nice meal in a restaurant or when I go out with friends.
It would be easy to slip back into drinking too often unless I had a reason to not do so.
Giving myself a flexible goal ensures I can still enjoy that beer with my nachos or that wine at the restaurant while also helping me avoid the glass of wine on a Tuesday just for the hell of it.
So my arbitrary number of the year is 250 sober days. Which is probably 200 more than last year.
With one sober month under my belt, that leaves about two days a week āallowanceā plus a little extra on a holiday or something.
Anyone else considering a similar approach?
Thatās my plan. Not to have a rigid system, but flexibility within a framework.
Iām using āIām soberā now, and think Iāll just keep using that.

Iām prone to the all-or-nothing mindset, and Iām afraid it would be soon be all rather than nothing if I were to move forward with Dry February.
