So I fairly recently got diagnosed with severe functional depression disorder and a mild anxiety. My doctor prescribed to me 60mg Cymbalta (duloxetine) and only 5 drops of clonazepam a day which he told me is a much lower dose than one for someone with severe anxiety. Alcohol is a no no according to him and what I’ve researched. It could be very bad with cymbalta. And I have no problem with that, I rarely drink, and though it’s gonna be tough to abstain from drinking around friends for two years I can manage without a problem.
But. I’ve been a weed smoker for years now (I’m 25) and my doctor is fairly old school. I asked him about it and he seemed hesitant. He said that marijuana can bring out some demons we’re unaware of. I just nodded. And I stopped smoking daily long ago, being aware that it could only add to the depression, only every once in a while, like once a month smoking a joint with a friend, which is actually more enjoyable than being a weed chimney.
Now, I admit that I have smoked a couple times since my treatment started and I had no unexpected side effects, just some good old stoned nights. I am still worried though, albeit not much, that I might be interfering with my treatment.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated! And if there’s a better subreddit to ask this I’d appreciate knowing that too.
Thank you and have a great day! :)
