For marijuana stats to be effective, it would have to go something like this.
X percent of all people who have tried alcohol suffer from alcohol-related illness
X percent of all people who have tried marijuana suffer from marijuana-related illness
X percent of people who drink once a day suffer from an alcohol related illness
X percent of people who smoke once a day suffer from a marijuana related illness.
Yet it's often instead measured in deaths and other arguments nullified when one mentions that alcohol is legal and widely consumed while marijuana by comparison is not.
