Is there a reason most drugs originate from plants and not animals?
Post Body

Ignoring the synthetically made ones, why do many drugs trace back to plants? I know there are a few which trace back to animals but seemingly not many. Is there an overarching reason for this or is it just one of those things we accepted as like a law of nature and didn’t question it? It kind of just sticks out to me. How is it advantageous to the plant to have these compounds?
