Adderall wear down over time

I’m just looking for experienced adderall users. I’ve been prescribed adderall for about two years. I’m up to 20mg xr plus a 10mg booster each day which tends to last about 4-6 hours max for both. I’m also a heavy dude. I’m wondering if I take a prolonged break from it (months) If it will likely start to be effective again. I have a call with my Dr Wednesday and would like to make suggestions but I don’t know much about it. I take it for adhd and I’m over 50. Thanks.
