My psych dr now requires an every 15 day refill (2x per mos.) of my benzo for all her patients, what used to be Rx'd every month? Anyone know why?
Is this a new rule or law that took place in 2024?
(I looked all over but couldn't find any new laws or new FDA / DEA administrative rules).
I do telemedicine with this psychiatrist and since 2020, she had prescribe me a monthly supply of my benzo. in the Xanax family
Now for the last month, she requires, All her Patients, including myself, to call up every 15 days (Twice Per Month) to Refill what used to be done (Once per Month)
Now I have to phone call my pharmacist *and* my psychiatrist's staff to every 2 weeks and make 2 trips every month to the pharmacist to pick up my benzo's along with my other med, an antidepressant.
The staff told me that this is recently being done for all controlled substances that this psychiatrist prescribes.
I know it would've probably been best to ask this doctor's staff to elaborate on why...but they're so busy during the holidays, and this psychiatrist is very anxious with regard to benzo's...she told me about 2 years ago....that I didn't want to press on with why the reason was...
Anyone have any clue why this would happen, if it wasn't a law, did someone at this psychiatrist's office i.e. one of their at least 40 patients.... get in trouble for selling all or part of their benzo's?
Thank you for any help.
