For context I used to be on and off opiates for awhile and have used many other drugs in the past. I never really dabbled with alcohol until the last few years.
I have an addictive personality and have found myself drinking because if I’m not addicted to one thing, I’m addicted to the next.
I know (from past experience) that when I’m using opiates, I’m not using other drugs (including alcohol) and right now I’m not 100% ready to fully go sober again but I’m using alcohol daily.
I’m broke af and I can get tapentadol a lot cheaper than alcohol and it also fills in that “void” that I feel when I feel the need to drink. And even when I drink I still don’t feel okay, I just drink and then feel a bit shitty and wish I’d taken something else or crave stims.
What I found with opiates was that I was spending a lot less, using less frequently. Yes I was still using instead of being sober but I feel like I was doing less damage to my brain and body (and finances) when using opiates instead of alcohol.
TLDR - I’m basically asking is it better for my brain/body to completely cut out daily drinking and switch over to cheap opiates (using roughly 2-3 times a week)
Any advice appreciated thank you.
