Is 1mg of Xanax too much for a person that did not used it before ?

I mean I used Xanax about 5 years but it was like .20 pill but I remember that after a weeks I was using 4-5 pills a day of 0.2mg but now i have the 1mg ones should i cut it do you think its possible to cut it maybe in half?
