TLDR: I’m depressed and my mom offered for me to do ketamine therapy as a first option (i’ve never been treated before)
I’m 18 and have been dealing with depression for a few years since i was maybe 14. I have dealt with it in the dark without telling anyone until about a week ago.
My family is relatively optimistic and forward thinking when it comes to drugs and stuff. My dad smokes weed daily, and my mom did Ketamine therapy at a clinic and said it helped her so much with her depression.
When i confessed how i had been hiding my depression, she signed me up for a visit with a doctor at her clinic (where she got Ketamine therapy), and they diagnosed me with major depressive disorder.
My dad is against SSRI’s and thinks they are only a part-time cure. He is biased though, since his friend who was on SSRI’s for over 20 years came off them and committed suicide.
Anyways, I have experimented with acid, shrooms and dmt in the past (low dose DMT pen didn’t break through), but I am hesitant to try Ketamine therapy. I was kind of shocked when my mom said it was an option.
Is this normal for an 18 year old?? Ketamine therapy?? Idk man. I need to do something though. I can’t keep feeling the way I do everyday.
If you were 18 and your parents offered you Ketamine infusion therapy for your depression would you say yes?? I’m trippin, out maybe this is just the future tho
