In order to get a guarantee prescription you need or want you want to see a psychologist so that you can have a referral for what meds fit your criteria then the psychiatrist comes after. The psychologist will do an evaluation on you this evaluation consists on hella questions to determine what kind of mental health issues you have so that they don’t go untreated ultimately giving you a label of adhd, panick disorder generalized anxiety and the list goes on let’s make an example of one of them (ADHD) they’ll ask questions depending on what answers you say yes to example if they say do you have a hard time focusing and you say yes they ask on a scale of 1-10 how bad is it if you say a high number then they will start asking questions related to common ADHD symptoms they will do tests and if you fail then you now have a mental health label on your documents which is pretty much your mental health record that all your doctors and psychiatrist (optionally schools) and therapists can see can see so now that the doctors/psychiatrist, see that you have been diagnosed with ADHD they now have a reason and proof to prescribe you medication that helps with ADHD without being uneasy or suspicious about your intentions I prefer seeing a psychiatrist ( on zoom or FaceTime they like to read your body language if you see them in person 👀 and it’s as simple as come and go) psychiatrist specialize in these types of things and what ever medication doesn’t work for you they’ll keep trying new ones having a list of all the old ones you’ve tried documenting your history now when you find a MedicatioN that works for you then let them know they’ll be willing to up the dose if you want them to (because psychiatrist like doing tests and experiments on you) it will be a long process until you find the medication that works for you and the medical business is very pricey depending if you have health insurance or not
