So I just came across a thread on this sub of a guy who totaled his car while blacked out. In the comments, people were arguing over whether you could responsibly "blackout" on benzos. Blacking out on benzos is literally a lobotomy in a pill. It basically turns off your prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for decision making, memory, social behavior, emotion regulation, etc. It turns off the part of your brain that makes you, you.

Reading these comments reminded me of a friend I had while in college. He was a smart kid, got good grades, had a lot of friends, and was dating a really nice girl. I don't want to give out their real names, so let's just call my friend Jon for the sake of the story, and we'll call his girlfriend Helen. Jon started abusing benzos with Helen, and 1 week later, they robbed an ihop and a gas station with an airsoft gun, and got arrested 20 minutes later inside of a taco cabana at gunpoint by the swat team.

Helen went first and robbed the ihop. While she was in the middle of the robbery, standing there with an airsoft gun at the ihop hostess stand, she starts breaking down, crying and regretting what she's doing. Helen claims that she changes her mind and that she doesn't want to rob them anymore. She runs out of the ihop where Jon and his getaway driver friend are waiting. They speed off.

Jon is pissed cause Helen didn't get any money. So he decides to rob a gas station. Of all the gas stations to pick, Jon decides to rob the local one right down the street from his apartment. They had him on video the day before, coming into the same gas station, talking to the same clerk, popping a pressed xanax on camera and telling the clerk to hit him up if they need any bud or pills. I wish I was making this up.

They all ended up getting caught about 20 minutes later a couple blocks over at a taco cabana. They decided to go in the taco cabana instead of the drive through because they wanted to get chips and salsa. The SWAT team stormed the restaurant just as they were about to get their food.

Jon spent a good amount of time in jail and went through hell while he was in there. Even if he did get away, Jon only got around $100 from the gas station, which he split with the driver so he only got $50.

What's funny is he didn't steal the airsoft gun. He paid $60 for it from Academy, so all in all, he lost about $10 and gained spending a better part of a year in jail while getting the shit kicked out of him weekly all while getting chased by booty bandits. Often the people beating him up were the booty bandits.

Stay away from taking high doses of benzos. They make you do shit you would never imagine doing sober, and you have no recollection of anything you do. 1 week of xanax abuse ruined my friends life.
