Hello, to begin I know both of these are just anesthetics mainly used in dentistry, but I have an experience which makes me question, if recreational use is possible. Procaine wiki mentions increased dopamine and serotonin, Lidocaine unfortunately does not. I will search for more information, about the binding strenght on dopamine/serotonin receptors, but first Id like to present my anecdotal experience and if someone has experienced something similar. This is a few years ago, but when I had to have work done on my teeth I obviously asked my dentist for anesthesia, I do not know if Lidocaine or Procaine was used, maybe even a different -caine analog. There was no stimulation or euphoria, because obviously anesthesia is the main purpose and when your teeth are being drilled into and the pressure still can be felt by the areas around the numbed parts of the mouth you wont be thinking about anything else other than wanting it to be over. My mouth was numb for about an hour or maybe a bit under 2 hours, after the procedure was done, but I was a heavy stoner back then and immediately after arriving home I smoked about 4-5 gravity bongs, mind you I am the only person I know that smokes gravity bongs like it was a spliff, combining 1 part tobbaco with 1 part cannabis and in this case I think it might have added to the effects I experienced. First 5 minutes after being done I was obviously very stoned and wanted to just chill out watching videos in bed. Then unexpectedly I started to get a rush of mild euphoria all over my body and I suddenly had an urge to go do something. I started being very talkative and open, it was a very pleasurable experience. To add I havent even known about Lidocaine or Procaine back then. But I did attribute the effects to the anestheisa, but didnt explore further. Only now after learning what they are and the hint of them having some sort of dopamine/serotonin release do I question it so much. I will be going to a dentist next week and will be getting anesthesia again after those years and Im considering getting some weed and trying if I will get a similar experience as I did those years ago.
