How long does it take for track marks to start showing?

I recently lost my best friend of 14 years and the emt said that she had track marks on her arms. I knew her like the back of my hand. She was never into any drugs and definitely not into shooting up. I am so angry that I missed every single sign. I feel like I completely failed her. My question is how long does it take for track marks to start showing? I am asking because I am wondering approximately how long she had already been using before she passed away. I just can’t believe I didn’t see it. I could have possible prevented her death had I known!💔💔😢😢
