Love cigs/ smoking tobacco but want to limit myself and reduce impact on musculature and addiction
Post Body

Ello Governas,

I enjoy smoking. I really do. Iā€™m in the process of quitting right now. Iā€™m on day 3 so Iā€™m pretty much good to go after this BUT I still want to be able to smoke every now and again whether itā€™s a black and mild or what have you.

My problem is, how can I smoke once every now and again where the nicotine concentration in my blood stream is likely to reach a half life within an 8 or 24 hour period that is not likely to require me to restart this gigantic huge ass pain of a quitting cycle again?

When would be the best time to smoke if I did this? Morning or night?

The thing is I enjoy nicotine. Itā€™s fun. Enjoyable. Helps me feel relaxed and helps me focus. Not being on nicotine is far beyond better though because I feel happier, am much more personable, more enthusiastic, I work harder, I get more done, I eat more and breathe better and I feel like a titan or what have, you given that my musculature and oxygen intake is prime and I feel unstoppable but every now and then a little drag would be fun and dandy. Like a cig every now and again doesnā€™t effect these traits but if I rip dart after dart (I am an ex chain smoker) itā€™s very obviously a problem. Iā€™m trying to find out how I can limit in take without ending up crushing a pack of reds in one sitting OR having the same mental addiction as if I did from one smoking interaction with nicotine after quitting.

I used to smoke a pack a day. Then like 6 or 7 black n milds a day. Then two. Now no nicotine at all going cold turkey using bubble gum.

I was planning to wait until I got erectile dysfunction naturally at old age to smoke again but thatā€™s so fucking far just to wait for a fucking cigarette.

Wish there was a form of nicotine where the only addiction was entirely psychologically symptomatic rather than physically symptomatic but beggars canā€™t be choosers. Any advice? Iā€™m 27.

I guess Iā€™m essentially asking for brain tricks. How can you convince yourself you wonā€™t need it, what are some mental tricks you use to avoid smoking again after smoking once, what do you tell yourself or how do you mentally conceptualize setting limits to your nicotine intake? Do you create a metaphorical ā€œBREAK IN CASE OF EMERGENCYā€ box in your head which you use to smoke and if you do, how do you ensure your conscious or subconscious self only breaks the glass in an emergency? I know people will say ā€œif you rely on negative stimulus at bad times then your mind will always associate one with the otherā€ but I feel like thatā€™s just a lack of self awareness and a blanket case that can apply to anyone but realistically only applies to people that arenā€™t aware of their triggers.

Iā€™ve thought about solely smoking nicotine when I drink or smoke weed since I only do these things once every blue moon.

Honestly I may do this so I group all of my bad habits into isolated events.

Thanks for the help everyone.
