(accidental) overdoses among teens

i newly turned 18 and i have been thinking about if its a part of adulthood that people are overdosing.

In the past not even two years i have experienced many acquaintances passing away by ODโ€™ing. They were all under 20 and their deaths were ruled as unintentional. can someone older share their view on these things? I live in a medium sized european city and i have looked through the statistics but i want to talk someone about it, not just read numbers.

growing up i (obviously) didnt hear of overdoses, but now reading past news articles about them, it just confirms what i have been thinking.

the most disturbing thing to me was/is that they knew of each other. Two of them were even friends and its unsettling that he died not even 1.5 years after his friends OD.

i know that the majority of us users know the risks that theyre willing to when getting high, but what needs to happen so no one accidentally does too much anymore ?? i wish for a world where harm reduction and addiction is taken more serious, because obviously banning drugs is nonsense

sorry if my post seems to be a little unstructed, its just the second death this year and i needed to share my thoughts
