For some reason I keep swirling my spit around in my mouth basically non-stop, when I take a pretty high dose of methylphenidate, 162 mg of Concerta (XR) methylphenidate, which in this instance which prompted me to write this is still from around 6 hours ago, and 50 mg of methylphenidate IR followed by another 50 mg of IR after an hour.
I kinda swirl my spit like back and forth from my mouth to in between the front of my teeth and my lips. I don’t think I even produce an (noticeable) excessive amount of spit, but it’s more that when I produce whatever amount of spit, I just keep swirling it around in my mouth like I explained, for a very long time. And when I do swallow it I just do it again immediately. Sometimes I slow down on the swirling and I just have a lot of spit in my mouth. I would probably say that I’m doing it unconsciously; while I am kind of aware that I’m doing it and I can stop if I want to and focus on it, but when I lose attention i just start doing it again. It’s not necessarily a problem but I am extremely curious as to why it’s happening.
It seems counterintuitive since I believe that one of the side effects of a high dose/overdose is a dry mouth.
Does anyone know why this happens? Also, I have some more questions (also related to this ‘special evening’ of mine) but this is my first Reddit post and I’m not sure if I should throw them all into one post or split them up. For now I’ll at least keep this one separate but I’d appreciate it if someone would lmk how that works around here.
