Question regarding alcoholic relapse

Post Body

So a while back I was drinking pretty heavy, but hit a point where I was just getting sick, couldn't stand having to drink to feel ok, nor could I afford to keep it up, so I could turkey stopped fully knowing how dangerous it is. Went to the ER with DTs, obviously. But after that I went months without touching it.

Then a few months ago I was on my way to spend some time with friends and grabbed a pint of beer, which then led to iirc 3 rum and cokes. I didn't black out, and on my way home I'm pretty sure I bought a 375ml bottle of rum but only took another 2 shots or so before going to sleep (alc memory be like but I know it was still more than 3/4s full the next morning) expected a bit of a hangover but instead when I woke up the next day I had tremors and had a very similar, though not as severe feeling as I did when I started the cold turkey kick.

That led to a relapse and subsequent taper from which I'm sober again thankfully.

Have you experienced this? I'm really curious as to why I felt withdrawal symptoms as if I had been drinking heavily for an extended period of time when I hadn't touched the shit for like 3 months. I know I was feeling PAWS symptoms, could it have been related to that, something else? I remember it confused and annoyed the fuck out of me.

Tl;dr drank lots, stopped, ouch, waited a while, drank again, limbs go bzzz, why tho
