Is there any job opportunities that open up with just a CADC Associate 1 & 2? Or do you really need to get the full CADC

Post Body

Hey guys! I just received my PSS certification (in Kentucky). My wife (who had a BA in psychology) has been talking about getting her CADC, and that’s made me research it a bit.

So from what I read to get your full CADC you need a BA. Could be in anything, but you need it (and to be licensed you need a MA in a related field). But in Kentucky, there are two certifications you need to get before you can get the regular CADC. Your CADCA 1 and CADCA 2. And it looks like those you just need a HSD or equivalent.

My question is, does having the associate certifications (especially the second one) qualify you for anything that someone couldn’t normally do? Or are they just stepping stones, and by themselves won’t qualify you for much. I’m asking because I don’t have a BA, and honestly haven’t really thought about getting one (almost 30, married with 3 kids, never really did well in school). I would be interested in getting the associate though if it meant any kind of opportunity (and who knows, maybe I’ll get in the field and change my mind about the degree).

I just couldn’t find any information online about the associate certifications and thought I’d ask. Thanks guys!
