IG and TikTok comments seem to be split about 50/50 on the Drake Kendrick beef but I am seeing one trend over and over.

“People don’t appreciate lyricism anymore”

I don’t think half of these IG comment rap fans have ever had an original take. Kendrick’s bars were no more complex than Drakes. In fact, I think Drake actually had better lyricism on Push Ups.

That “You pussies can’t get booked outside America for Nan, I’m out in Tokyo because I’m big in Japan” and “I be with the bodyguards like Whitney” clears anything on Euphoria by a mile lyrically.

At this point I’m convinced Kendrick could sample an audio recording of himself pissing in a urinal and half of the Kendrick bootlickers would call it innovative and genius.

They also fail to remember that Drake had to reply to Ross, Future, Metro, the Weekend, and ASAP on Push Ups too. Alongside Kendrick. No shit he isn’t gonna torch Kendrick on one 4 mins song that has only 25% of it devoted to Kendrick. Push Ups should be compared to Like That, not Euphoria. And it clears Like That as a diss song.

No matter how hard Drake comes there is a subset of rap fans that will never give him praise and just repeat the same argument about Kendrick being a “real rapper”. They conflate persona with musical quality too much.

To be fair I don’t think Euphoria is all Kendrick has in the cut. But to say that it blows Push Ups out of the water is blasphemy considering the length of the track and the other people Drake had to deal with on Push Ups. Kendrick’s main 3 disses were Drake is a Canadian lightskin, he is a deadbeat dad, and kinda acts like a woman sometimes. Nothing original or creative about it besides the C&D line.

Either way I got my popcorn ready and am stoked to see this pan out, been a fan of both artists since 2012 when I was in middle school. We are finally gonna get to see who’s Top Dawg (pun intended).
