Post Body

I know this isn’t technically directly related to drifting, I just figure some of you guys may have a decent amount of experience and wisdom to offer on the subject.

In short, one of my buddies has an old, beaten to shit E36 he hasn’t driven in awhile and is trying hard to get rid of that he said he’d give to me for 800 bucks. Got a little over 200k on it (inline-6), and there hasn’t been an oil change in 60k miles. Brakes are completely shot, like when he was driving it he wore them down so much it was pretty much just the caliper itself grinding down the rotor to stop the car, and all the brake lines need to be replaced too. Engine runs pretty decent for 200k but would obviously run much better after an oil change. Trans works fine but the clutch hasn’t been changed ever. Also some minor interior issues. AWD.

Is it worth it? When he said E36 I really was hoping it’d be a good project car to turn into a drift missile but then he said it was AWD and my hopes and dreams were kind of shattered. Is a RWD conversion possible at all? Even if it’s pretty janky, I’m not looking for a professional drift car, just a fun little shitbox to toy around with. Any input is appreciated.
