So, ive decided to start drifting. I have lots of experience driving like a butthole, and have done autocross quite successfully before. I'm also a mechanic by trade and can do any repairs that need doing. What im trying to decide is whether to build my current car as a drifter or get something different- its a 2004 mazdaspeed miata with high miles and a lot of bolt ons that makes around 200whp. I don't feel like its the most balanced chassis for going sideways, and the gearing is very short. A lot of people also say miatas are shitty drift cars because they have a short wheelbase and are very snappy. Am i better off selling it and getting a 350z or something?
