I forced myself to wake up from a dream and when I woke I realised I was still dreaming… anyone know what this is?

Post Body

So last night, while in a dream, I realised I was indeed dreaming and just didn’t like the situation and basically tried to force myself to wake up. I basically had a panic attack mid dream because I realised I was dreaming and didn’t know the people I was with within the dream and I can remember in my head I was really flipping out and just telling myself “please wake up, please wake up” over and over again. It wasn’t a nightmare I was having, or at least one I would be used to.

When I woke up from the dream, I realised I wasn’t in my room, left my room and then realised I wasn’t even in my house. I can remember panically walking around the house I was in and I eventually found my real parents and my cousin who appeared to be my sister in the dream (so so weird) and we had a short interaction before I again began panicking a lot and forcing myself to try wake up again.

This time I did indeed wake up and I checked my phone and realised I was only asleep for an hour or so when this happened. Can anyone elaborate on what the hell happened here? Or has anyone had an similar experiences? I tried looking on the internet and found nothing really. Only thing I found was ‘forced awakenings’ but I don’t feel like this is it. I could be wrong but if anyone has any idea that would be great.
