like I know its probably what we were meant to infer but the movie never actually made it all that clear what the bros were meant to have thought in Regards to what happened with Branch and Grandma after they left.
the fact none of them asked about her in present day made them seem sorta uncaring as even if they had assumed she had died from like old age or something after Branch had grown up you'd think they'd still ask about her.
as it is the movie didn't make their actions seem all that understandable and their feelings towards Branch all that clear because it wasn't clear what their perspectives were meant to be.
like it could have just had some small changes like during the parts where we see them all having a good time at putt Putt maybe the bros do finally ask about Grandma and Branch maybe makes it clear she's no longer with them.
but after thinking to himself for a second he tells them that she only recently passed away a year or 2 ago from natural causes as Branch maybe didn't want to bring down everyone's good mood by telling them that she died when he was just a kid in such a horrific way.
as the Brothers were finally getting along so he didn't want to ruin it for them plus he didn't feel comfortable opening up about that particular part of his life such as having to Raise himself and going Grey and whatnot.
and this way it kinda makes it clearer what the bros thought in regards to this whole situation plus it makes them seem like they actually gave a Dam about their Grandma by asking about her.
and it confirms for sure that they just thought she had Raised Branch and then died later in life in a normal way making their reactions to his reaction to them wanting to split up again not necessarily be 100 percent Right but it is a little more understandable.
in this case if the film did confirm that they thought Branch and Grandma just got on with their lives after they left and Branch wasn't really affected by their absence all that much.
again I know some people assumed this stuff anyway but the movie doesn't make it 100 percent clear and like I said it makes the Bros look extra bad how they never asked about their Grandmother at any point.
so this would fix that by having Branch tell them a half truth of her being gone but purposely keeping from them the true circumstances around her death making it 100 percent clear what their mindsets were in Regards to Branch's life while they were away.
and the argument scene can play out the exact same way as in the film with Branch telling them the truth after they act like leaving again wouldn't be that big a deal and he was just being Dramatic for thinking that.
like I said I just feel the film needed to make it 100 percent clear what they thought in Regards to Branch so as to make their behaviours just seem a little bit less cruel and Jerky ya know?
