Recently watched Spirit Untamed, and loved it enough that I watched the movie twice. I also watched an episode of the Netflix series, Spirit Riding Free, and I'm a bit confused.

I noticed in Spirit Riding Free, characters looked different even though they're the same and some scenes were recreated in Spirit Untamed (such as Lucky in back of the train watching the horses). My question is, is Spirit Untamed a retelling or a re-imagining of Riding Free?

Maybe I need to watch the series more, but am a bit curious on this since I'm kind of new to Spirit. Any answers would be appreciated.
