So I had a dream last night that I had taken my daughter (a younger version than her now, like 4-5 years old in the dream, 13 in reality) to some janky traveling carnival.
All seems completely normal, then my wife (could have been brother or babysitter, never saw who I left her with, I just knew that I had handed her off to a familiar face) stays with her while she is riding the rides, and suddenly I’m sitting about 150’ up in the air on some concrete structure like a grain elevator and watching the midway below.
With me there is an older gentleman that I used to work at the same company with, but was never close to, an unknown woman around his age, and then 2 faceless people I know nothing about other than they are there.
They’re all talking shit about how the people working at the carnival, and how crappy it is, meanwhile I am sitting down with my legs crossed so I can relax and stay back from the edge as there is no hand rail, guard rail, or anything.
They’re all jabbering on and all I am doing is watching my daughter ride a ride and hoping that she’s safe, thankful that none of the carnival people hear how terrible these other 3 are being.
Then suddenly, the old guy I used to work with, steps up to the edge and looks over.
Right as I reach up to grab his belt so he doesn’t fall, he jumps feet first..... burns in, and I look over the edge to see him. Legs blown apart and spinning on his ass in circles.
In my dream I’m like “why the fuck did he do that, maybe that was his plan coming up here”
Then the older woman, smiling and generally happy looks over the edge, then looks at me and asks what happened.
As I’m trying to say that he jumped before I could grab him, she looks at me, smiles peaceful as all hell, and does a belly flop off the building.
I can still hear the sickening thwap, and I retreat to the back wall like some invisible force is going to pull me over if I look again and start to panic and freeze.
Which as a former Medic, is not something I have ever done.
I have lot of reoccurring dreams, but I have never had anything like this before.
Any thoughts?
