How often should I wash and hydrate my 4c hair?

Hi everyone, I’ve had my locs for 6 months now and I’ve been washing them every 6 weeks. Now that summer is here though, and I’m working out a lot more, I feel like I need to wash them more often. I’m scared of drying out my hair though so I’m not sure how often to wash.
Also, I feel like my hair needs more water. Is it ok to spritz it every day? Or run it underneath the shower?
