Should I cut my dreads off

Post Body

I'm white, & had them for 4 years but this last year I'm having a really hard year liking them, and everyone in my life has an opinion about them that I haven't asked for.

I've never thought much about appearances until I got these and suddenly people around me care far more about my hair than I ever have and it's just grinding on me, I guess wondering if I'm embarrassing my kids or if people are calling me gross behind my back because they know nothing about dreads. I know I should have more confidence in myself and honestly I kinda love them on me but I just hate hearing from people for the first time in months and their first question is "do you still have your dreads??"

Should I just cut them off or try brushing them out or what?

I would suggest chopping them off and starting over with neater dreads that don't give off "I smell like BO" vibes
