I remember the scent on the air, the chill in the breeze and the clouds that hung low over my head the first time I saw the ocean.
I remember how the rain refused to fall.
I remember the way she studied me, from a distance, on the beach, that day.
I remember how different fresh wild apples taste. And how perfectly she fit in my arms.
I remember the startling colors that painted the sky above the Great Lake, as I drove into Duluth, that morning.
I remember how everything seemed to stop when I heard, “She died.”
I remember how the rain refused to fall.
