I was thinking recently (with amusement, not self pity!) about the kind of overachieving, academically accomplished, full-of-potential child I was, and what a schlub of an adult I am. I think that’s actually fairly common, and when you consider what Hermione went through as a teenager and her likelihood of developing some form of PTSD, there’s a good chance she’d struggle to find her path in life. Anybody have any good recs for this kind of Hermione?
I think this would be especially interesting when contrasted with a very motivated, overachieving Draco (he’s got a lot to prove these days, after all). How does he feel about her newly discovered lack of ambition? (Answer: pretty fucking disappointed, Granger). How does she feel about his enthusiasm for Making A Difference? (Honestly a bit exhausting, Malloy).
I don’t want him sneering and cruel here - maybe a bit baffled.
Somebody write this for me so I don’t have to start and abandon another fic.
