Anyone remember why Thomas had it out so badly for Bates in the later part of the series? When he’s having Baxter be a little spy. Thomas is the under butler because of Bates. He would have been without a job or even in prison if it weren’t for Bates, so I’m not sure why he’s so out for him during this time? Is it just a plot point so that we get to Baxter’s backstory/etc. or did something happen that I am forgetting? I know they’ve never been friends, but this seems especially vindictive when Bates literally saved his ass.
