Today I have decided to suspend u/TheVeryWetBanana’s Cabinet and Labour Party membership given the comment they made earlier. The comment was wholly unacceptable and does not have a place in our politics.

When I came into office, I made a point of wanting our politics to set a good example, to be a role model for people on how to engage constructively and positively with one another, however, that comment fell well short of that ethos. I hope they will take this time away to reflect on that.

I offer my apologies to anyone offended or hurt by the comment made and reassure them that this is not the attitude or belief of anyone in the Labour Party or this government.

u/Model-finn will be taking the role of Secretary of State for Transport for the foreseeable future.
