Another Oline recruit over the past month or so means another review. I am enjoying the size and speed of recruit that we are recruiting on the line, however this is another player for internal. Would love another tackle who is comfortable in space, especially as Kittley enjoys a more zone based run game based on his time in WKU.

Overview
Another definite prospect at guard however he does have the raw attributes to play some tackle if needed. Nick is a monster there is no doubt about that, his athleticism is up there as well. He is backed by very solid fundamentals, especially in the close quarter aspects of the game which is where his transition to guard will be made much easier. I would have liked to see more instances where he was having to make more complex blocking decisions, but he did seem to be making correct reads on stunts and zone plays.
Nick won’t blow you away with his tape, I cant find loads of weaknesses in this small sample, but it is often these types of players who end up being the most successful. Guys who can do their job and execute don’t always need the rah rah plays, give him a couple of years and we can see Nick make some real contributions.
Strengths
Nastiness is apparent throughout, enjoys the being a bully which will suit well at guard. Lateral foot work on internal wide zone/downblock plays is excellent, sets a great base and fights to work through the defenders opposite shoulder causing a seal or pancake for WZ or hits the inside shoulder hard for downblocks (0:08, 0:57,1:05) Shows good lateral movement in pass pro, will be important when transitioning to guard (0:52). Keeps a very solid base in pass pro, able to change direction without leaning on inside to outside moves (0:52, 1:31, 1:47, 2:05). Is a real POP guy, powers into contact, stands up defenders and runs through them.
1:17 may be my favourite clip, shows great footwork and lets the play come to him. The end crosses his face, so he engages and finishes his block. If the end had been on another stunt, his eyes were already to the next level if needed. Great signs for guard play.
Weaknesses
Initial lateral steps occasional go back and inwards when zoning to the open field, causing cross over and losing speed, this will leave him vulnerable for quicker defenders at the next level (0:21, 0:42). Vertical pass sets can be a bit mechanical with heavy footwork, not a major weakness but certainly something that would need work if he wants to stay at tackle (0:35, 2:25).
