Stuttering Lag

I play on an i5 (not gaming) laptop and ever since the update I can't play for 2 minutes without a 3-second stutter where I don't see anything and can't control my hero. Happens a lot in teamfights especially. My laptop has decent specs other wise and never had these issues with Dota before.
