I'm not sure where to start, but recently there have been a ton of smurfs in my games. When there is a smurf in my game, I spam all chat with "so and so is a smurf" please report for mmr abuse. After all, it's a waste of several hours of other peoples' time. At the end of the game I provide the steam profile of the obvious smurf (and their steam account is always 0/1/2) and I report them for cheating. Normally the other players on the smurfs team are all "winky-winky" about the whole thing; either obnoxiously brown-nosing the superior player, or calling me a smurf or threatening to report me. I like to play support to help teammates, but when there are smurfs on the other team it's an automatic loss.
Also, I have been picking non-traditional but meta position 4 heroes such as ember spirit, invoker etc...and generally the herald offlaner is so ignorant that they start flaming me and threatening to report even though i do not attempt any last hits, and i harass the enemy constantly. They also don't seem to understand that offlaners dont get dedicated supports, so they flame me for rotating as well.
In the last 15 games, I have been reported 6 times for : "disruptive gameplay" or "mmr abuse" and the dota client tells me i am banned from matchmaking until Friday.
This has never happened to me before. Generally if i get LP, I will get some single-draft games to play (which are a grind, but i still enjoy)...and then back to it.
I have a couple of points to make.
A) I think if someone spots a smurf account and urges others to report on steam and in-game, that they are actually doing right by the community and any retaliation should be disregarded.
B) My behavior score has dipped to around 6k. Players at this tier will report you, or threaten to report you for anything...it is very difficult to get out of this behavior trench playing certain positions. Core players are abusive to supports. I tried playing position 4 because i think it's the most interesting position, and teammates will flame and report you for ignorant reasons.
IN SUMMARY:
This system is not working well at this point.
- Im seeing a lot of smurf accounts in herald games.
- Abusive players are misusing report functionality at a high frequency.
- Behavior score trench very difficult to get out of.
- Low mmr games are much easier to win as core
Here are a couple of suspicious players in last 15 games: 1) https://www.dotabuff.com/players/399898298 (clearly a smurf/purchased account) 2) https://www.dotabuff.com/players/364985948 (appears to be a boosted account. Didnt report. but recent performance is an anomaly and highly suspect.)
RE: None of the responses I've seen so far has even come close to addressing my concerns. Basically they are just trying to dispute my claims to be contrarian. Arguing about syntax, instead of the main issues. It would be great if somebody who actually has a level head could address these concerns in a logical manner as opposed to blame shifting.
RE: No matter which way you slice it. I haven't broken any rules. I haven't been disruptive. I haven't been abusing mmr. The only thing i've done is ask others in the game to report the smurf/rule breaker and in retaliation they reported me. I was reported 6 times for it over the past 15 games and matchmaking has been banned for 3 days. This is absolutely a flawed system. No argument on here comes close to refuting that aspect.
