I main and play support and now have a useless Legacy of the Fallen Legion Immortal in my armory. I only hope they change this procedure of making non-tradable, non-marketable & non-giftable hero specific prestige items (for people who DO NOT like that specific hero) and allow the players who own prestige items to give them the freedom to do what they please with it. The current restriction on prestige items hurts the players when the item cannot be traded, marketed or even gifted because IT MAKES THAT SPECIFIC ITEM HAVE ZERO RESALE VALUE and it’s just sitting there in the inventory (IT’S TOTALLY WORTHLESS AT THIS POINT). Reality check Valve, nobody has an active hero pool of all 115 heroes in DOTA 2. People actually like to focus on a specific role.
By the way, before any of you come to call me another greedy baby who wants to sell the immortal prestige item, if you look at it from a financial standpoint where you can sell items you don’t need and buy another item or game with the money gained from selling that prestige item; this is will still be a HUGE benefit to Valve since they are still earning money from the item being resold. It’s a win-win, Valve! Happy customers means more PROFIT.
But currently, what Valve is trying to do by cornering and monopolizing the market by making these items non-tradable, non-marketable & non-giftable really makes me reconsider not supporting this game anymore. You’re already losing a lot of active players in this game and the route you’re taking will only drive DOTA 2 down the same road as Team Fortress 2.
I propose instead that you should award a battle pass buyer who has reached a certain milestone with a profile badge/trophy with citations to that specific milestone achievement rather than awarding hero specific items.
I rest my case.
