I think there's been quite a few jokes about this. But honestly the UK is one of the largest gaming markets in the world and pretty much every gaming institution ignores it. We Brits are almost literally dying for an event. We snap up anything going.
As of 2016 the UK was the 5th largest gaming market in the world Source. It makes an insane amount of sense to host in this untapped market. Pre-Brexit there will be very few issues with visas as we also have visa agreements with China. And specific visas for sporting events.
