Can someone tell me about Vici Black and why a Chinese team picked him up?

I'm somewhat new to the Dota 2 competitive scene and know very little about the China scene. From what i've gathered, China players are incredibly strong so it somewhat confuses me about Black being German. Is he that good that he's better than other Chinese carries (this surprises me as i also follow the LoL scene and Chinese carries are known for being incredibly talented) and how does vg deal with the language barrier. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, it's just something i've been curious about.
