I appreciate older games, but I'm currently playing Theif 1 and it's already a slog lol so I kinda wanna get straight to the kick-ass murder in the newer games. I love games for their story, and so I always feel incomplete jumping into the middle of a series, even if there's barely any lore or story, just kill a bunch of people and monsters.
I read the 2016 Doom and everything after is a soft reboot, but don't know exactly if that means everything before then is a separate story or if it's all still in the same universe.
So basically, is Doom 2016 a separate universe/story from Doom 1993? (and I don't mean in a separate dimension way lol, like are they completely separate reboots?)
