My 3 year old Juju died as a result of my bull mounting her and ābreedingā her. I canāt blame him; he was acting on instinct, but he āwas confusedā as my vet said. Juju was backing up to him. She, also, was confused but acting on instinct. I am heartbroken.
She was gentle, naughty, curious and loved the occasional Dorito or cookie. It happened so fast. Ultimately, I take the blame for her death and I am broken. Iām going through the āshould haveā or ācould haveā hindsight thoughts. She was treated with pain meds and antibiotics. She was septic. Please, be kind as my mind is filled with how I failed her. I was her person; she trusted me. I loved her BIG!
My question is this: Have you ever seen or known of this happeningā a bull mounting and penetrating a Jenny in season?
I have googled and found nothing. Maybe Iām using the wrong search terms.
I appreciate any information you might share.
One note: After I heal from this pain, I plan to get a bonded pair. My bull will be sold in the coming months as I have a retained heifer I plan to breed.
Donks and bulls are both, forgive my crudeness, horny animals. Theyāll mount and be mounted by anything willing.
Iām so sorry.

Outside of donkey specific groups, and uhā¦ sketchy human sources, never specifically a bull and donkey pairing, but owning both Iām not remotely surprised. I am incredibly sorry, though, such a freak accident really.
