Customer Removed Tip After Delivery
Post Body

We had a real busy night last night. It got pretty chaotic. I got a triple. The first one was out to the edge of our delivery area. The second one didn't even exist. I called the customer and they had given the correct house number, but the wrong road. Luckily they were only about a mile away from me, but back in the direction that I came from. It really wasted time and delayed my third order further. I really wanted to comment about how hard they were making me work to earn their $2 tip, but I didn't. I went on to the third delivery and it seemed pretty uneventful.

I am not lying when I say that I have an excellent track record for remembering sides, double checking everything, and accurately delivering my orders. I've been doing this for years and I take pride in doing the job well. But I am human and I will occasionally make a mistake.

With three orders in my car and feeling flustered by a combination of low tips on them all plus the false delivery address, I got mixed up on which order my salad bag went with. I handed it off to the second customer and they didn't say a peep about not expecting a salad. It should have gone to my third customer, who didn't say a peep about expecting a salad. If the second delivery said something then I wouldn't have even left it with them and would have realized that I was mixed up and needed to deliver the salad to the third. If the third delivery had said anything then I could have sincerely apologized and arranged at the door to re-deliver or issue a credit.

The third customer called the store. They initially demanded that their entire be refunded. They didn't want to pay for two perfectly fine medium pizzas because of one missing salad. They declined a re-delivery or credit. The manager relayed to me that they seemed most concerned with ensuring that I wouldn't receive the $3 tip that they had applied to their CC order when they placed it online. Like I really have any reason whatsoever to deliberately withhold their damn salad. The manager canceled their order and rang them up again for only the two pizzas and no pre-tip. It's not like that $3 was the only thing preventing me from making rent or something. But I've never had a manager do this. It's possible I've never encountered a customer request this before. The manager said the wife called while the husband yelled in the background about coming to the store. All over one damn salad!

Just a side note, does anyone else see a police cruiser in the driveway and brace themselves for a low-ball tip and an unpleasant customer interaction?
