my mom tried to get the jack and sally set and didnt even manage to get in the check out queue, the website had her stuck in a loop of "i am not a robot" captchas. they sold out before she could even really try to get them. she was frustrated by the process she was fighting back tears. it's absolutely rotten. Mattel's model for selling Skullector dolls is BAD. it doesnt do anything to get dolls to more than maybe a handful of real people intending on collecting them. scalpers are already selling the dolls for double and tripple their original price on ebay. why does Mattel do it this way? is it really just for the hype? there's no way they make more doing it this way than say a short pre-order period for dolls. what is the point? im beyond upset, for my mom and myself since i would have recieved one of the sets she intended to get as well. it just seems like such an obscenely stupid business model to me, not to mention super discouraging to people who want to collect these dolls but can't justify paying double the original price from potentially shady ebay sellers. maybe im just being a baby about it, but i wish Mattel actually made it so collectors could buy their collector dolls without it being a digital bloodsports battle to try and get them.
