I've been an ASM for 3 years and I just couldn't take it anymore. I'm tired of being treated like a criminal, and treating my employees like criminals while I watch thousands of dollars walk out of my store with actual criminals and druggies. The last straw was having a covid positive customer rush up on me for literally no reason other than having a conversation in the office with my SM. Apparently we were talking to loud. When I tried to take a moment to calm myself after the fact I was told I had already taken my break and there's a line developing. There were 4 people in line with a few items each, and by the time I got back to my register my very capable cashier had them cashed out and on their way. There is no sympathy for anything in that hell hole unless your a lazy douche. They use and abuse anyone who actually cares to show up, and the ones who don't show up let's treat them like sweet little babies who need tender loving care. Truck days were the worst because more often than not it'd be just me and one other asmatic employee who'd leave halfway through truck and never come back leaving me to finish unloading the 3,000 piece truck all while also running the front end. I could go on and on but I'd be here all day writing a freaking novel. So if I can give anyone any advice it'd be to get out now while you have some sanity, if you even have any left. There are other jobs out there who will value you and your hard work. I promise there is. Talk to your customers. Someone is going to see you. It only takes one.
That’s unfortunate. That’s poor management and care. You were unlucky to have a store team as that. Not all run that way and none should run that way. I am a ASM as well and even with my store being short staffed and a very unreliable employee it’s still a well a rounded team. We’re all team players and flow together. I’m sorry you experience was bad, tho keep in mind that’s not how it goes for all stores
