So, I worked for Driveline for about a year. I loved it, but it killed my car, so I had to quit. During that year, I built some pretty strong professional relationships with some of the DG store managers I worked with. When I told the SM of one of the stores in town here, she immediately told me to apply and offered me a position.
Seemed like a good fit, since I already knew her store very well, was comfortable with the current employees, and would have no problem getting the store caught up with all of their core updates and resets. Besides coming in from another Dollar General, I was bringing in the most relevant knowledge and experience imaginable.
Once I did the application and she did what she does with it and sent it along to the DM, he shut it down right away. He said it creates a conflict of interest and that there is a waiting of two years before a DL rep can work at DG. WTF? I really don't understand this. What conflict of interest?
Does anybody know why this rule is a thing? More importantly, does anyone know of a way around it? Obviously it's not the end of the world, and I can get a job somewhere else. It just sucks, because this store really needs the help and I could have made a serious impact.
