I have a 10 month old back Chi mix and it’s my first dog raising on my own. I found the help of a dog trainer who I thought really cared and was helping for free. She helped me with tons of things but tonight I discovered she had actually just been trash talking me to someone else who’s equally as experienced and who’s opinion was that I should give the dog up.
My dog had been showing some aggressive habits and I asked for help but really got nothing. I got told to use the squirt bottles and it didn’t make any sense to me. So I researched it and saw it was some protection of me because it started after there was a fight between me and a family member in my house.
I’ve been working with my family and partner to desensitize him and it’s been improving and he’s learning some great new tricks so I was feeling quite proud. But this just sucks. Not to mention the video I sent her for help ended up being sent to someone else who posted it on their public Facebook page without consent and just tore us to shreds and gave NO advice but to get rid of my dog.
Anyone who’s worked through aggression or an over protective dog got kind words to spare?
