I have a 5 month/21 week old terrier/chihuahua mix. He’s doing great at both the pee pads and going outside however he’s still using the pee pads in between when I can take him out.

My question is: will he always need pee pads since he’s small? He’s about 7lbs right now.

I also work full time out of the home. I have someone come over and take him out about 4 hours after I leave and he goes but has gone on the pee pads in between.

Is there any advice on how to train to go only outside? I know his bladder is tiny but it would really help my anxiety when I’m at work especially because I have housemates who are wary of accidents in common areas (they can’t help me take him out) and I would love to be able to let him roam rather than keep him in my room.

Any tips would be really appreciated!
