So this is a huge problem. I knew it would be a problem. But I have no idea how to even begin handling it. She’s a small breed and is naturally going to bark sometimes. The problem is that she’s barking when she hears me speak. So it’s as soon as I unmute myself she barks and everyone hears. I will soon be working with clients and this cannot happen when I am speaking to them. I don’t know if it’s even possible to train her to stop barking (we tried when she was a puppy), and I know that if it is possible, I can’t do it myself. I work long hours and am exhausted. I’m even considering paying for a coworking space so I can get away from my dog.
I guess my ideal situation would be a daycare that will train her while she’s there? I don’t want to waste money on daycare in perpetuity, I want her to at least be able to learn some skills and hopefully stay with me again. But the problem is most daycares around us have pickup at 5, I work much later than this. Also, most trainers want the owner there, and I don’t have the time. Does anyone have suggestions or advice? I am a ball of stress and just want to not have anxiety about this, and for my dog to feel happy and calm. We live in NYC if that info is helpful.
