My partner and I adopted a 2.5 yrs old female Samoyed about six weeks ago. She is a generally calm and quiet dog, but whenever I am on my period, she is behaving oddly when my partner and I hug, touch or stand close together. She will start whining, barking and eventually try to get between us, and even stand on her back legs and trying to push him away (for lack of better words) - sometimes me as well, but mostly my partner. She seems very worried and stressed. Once my period is over, the behavior drops again.
We've tried reading up on this, but all we could find were reports of dogs being extra cuddly or following their owner very closely during that time of the month. Any tips on how to get her to stop doing that? It's really stressing me out and it's not really something a woman needs in that situation. I need TLC (and chocolate), not an upset good girl!
