Dogs are hostile to guests. Help?

Post Body

We have a pair of dogs, siblings. Almost 3 years old. We take them out frequently where they see other people and dogs. They are not aggressive but are very apprehensive around guests to our home and will back away / growl / bark at any sudden movement -- they do not like to be pet or touched in any way by newcomers. Normally it takes a couple of visits or a sleepover for them to get used to someone. Is there any way I can get my dogs to calm down and not be so hostile around guests? Or am I stressing too much? I mean at most it's just kind of annoying and makes people slightly uncomfortable.
